The Professionals Program at Parkridge Valley

A beautiful view of the mountains from the Professionals Building

It’s not unusual to hear someone say, “There simply aren’t enough hours in the day.” Whether it’s a co-worker, a neighbor, a friend, or a spouse who juggles a demanding job, volunteer responsibilities, ferrying the kids to soccer practice, shopping, cleaning, cooking and monitoring the family’s social activities, many people find their everyday responsibilities increasing. In today’s society, it seems that personal and professional stressors are endless. Many people manage to cope with their multiple responsibilities, but what happens when their way of coping becomes destructive to their own lives and the lives of those around them?

The Porch with Rockers

Parkridge Valley is reaching out to help those in the community who have serious problems dealing with the pressures of everyday life. The Professionals Program provides a full range of treatment services for adults with any kind of behavioral health/addiction issue.

Addiction is defined as the continued use of or interest in something in spite of negative consequences. Alcohol and drugs are the addictions most familiar, but addictions can also include gambling, food, sex, shopping and even the Internet.

The Great Room

Impaired professionals present a unique challenge because, often as providers of critical and life-sustaining services to others, they are extremely reluctant to express their need for help for themselves, especially inside the work environment. Whether they are abusing drugs or alcohol, engaging in reckless, addictive or destructive behavior, impaired professionals often experience feelings of guilt and shame along with a strong sense of denial that a problem exists at all.

The Dining Room

Parkridge Valley’s Professional Program offers an understanding, caring environment to help patients begin the steps towards a “New Path” and maintaining their professional licensure or career. The program consists of inpatient and transitional services. Under the direction of a medical director, the staff consists of qualified behavioral health professionals specializing in the assessment and treatment of co-occurring/ addictive disorders.
